Force stopping an app on your phone immediately terminates all its processes and background activity without uninstalling it. This is useful when an app is frozen, crashing repeatedly, or consuming too much battery or memory in the background. The app will restart normally the next time you open it and all your data inside the app is preserved.

1

On your phone: open Settings > Apps

2

Find and tap the app you want to stop

3

Tap 'Force Stop' then tap OK

4

The app is fully stopped until you open it manually

5

To block background activity: tap Battery > Background restriction

6

If app keeps crashing: tap Storage > Clear cache
